VQA is a dataset for open-ended questions about images, requiring vision, language, and commonsense knowledge to answer.

Visual Question Answering (VQA) is a research project that provides a dataset designed for training and evaluating AI models in understanding both visual content and natural language. The dataset contains a large collection of images, each paired with multiple open-ended questions. Answering these questions accurately necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the image's visual elements, the nuances of the language used in the question, and often, commonsense knowledge. The VQA dataset has evolved through several versions, with V2.0 being the full release. It includes over 200,000 COCO images, more than a million questions, and millions of ground truth answers. The project also provides plausible but incorrect answers to help in model evaluation. The VQA series of challenges has been recognized with the Mark Everingham Prize for stimulating new research in vision and language.
