Slop or Not detects AI-generated text and images using on-device processing for privacy and accuracy, supporting multiple detection methods.

Slop or Not is an AI slop detector for text and images that operates entirely on-device on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Unlike most AI detectors, it does not send user data to cloud servers, ensuring privacy. It utilizes the Apple Neural Engine for accelerated detection models. For images, Slop or Not employs a multi-layered approach: it reads SynthID watermarks from Google and OpenAI images, verifies C2PA Content Credentials, reads generator fingerprints, and scans pixels with its own image model. This allows it to detect AI-generated images even when watermarks or credentials are absent. For text, it uses a custom-trained transformer model that runs offline, catching 99.5% of AI text at a 5% false-positive rate on the RAID benchmark, with no word caps. It also provides readability scores in multiple languages. The tool is designed for various users, including journalists, educators, online shoppers, and legal professionals, who need to verify content authenticity without compromising data privacy. It offers a free app with a daily check limit, with a Pro version removing this restriction and adding CLI/MCP tools for Mac.
