Official Website ↗
A minimalist, 100-line LLM framework for building AI agents, task decomposition, and RAG applications with zero dependencies.
Pocket Flow is a lightweight LLM framework designed for building complex LLM applications. It provides a core graph abstraction (Graph + Shared Store) to model LLM workflows, where Nodes handle tasks, Flows connect nodes via Actions, and a Shared Store facilitates communication. The framework supports advanced features like Batch, Async, and Parallel nodes/flows for data-intensive and I/O-bound tasks.
It enables the implementation of popular design patterns such as autonomous Agents, multi-task Workflows, RAG for data retrieval, Map Reduce for data processing, and Structured Output. Pocket Flow does not include built-in utilities for vendor-specific APIs, promoting flexibility and avoiding vendor lock-in, allowing users to implement their own LLM wrappers, visualization, debugging, web search, text chunking, embedding, vector databases, and text-to-speech functionalities.
Key Features
- 100-line core graph abstraction
- Zero dependencies
- Vendor lock-in avoidance
- Agent design pattern
- Workflow design pattern
- RAG design pattern
- Map Reduce design pattern
- Structured Output design pattern
Pros
- Extremely lightweight with only 100 lines of core code
- Zero dependencies, simplifying integration and deployment
- Avoids vendor lock-in by not including built-in vendor-specific APIs
- Highly flexible, allowing users to implement custom utilities
- Supports complex LLM application patterns like RAG and Multi-Agents
Cons
- Requires users to implement their own utilities (LLM wrappers, web search, etc.)
- No built-in visualization or debugging tools provided
- Documentation is primarily example-based rather than comprehensive API docs
- May have a steeper learning curve for those expecting out-of-the-box solutions
- Limited community support compared to larger frameworks
Use Cases
- Developing AI agents for decision-making
- Creating multi-step LLM workflows
- Implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- Building applications with structured LLM outputs
- Prototyping and experimenting with LLM design patterns
Best For
- Developers building custom LLM applications
- Researchers experimenting with LLM agent architectures
- Teams requiring high flexibility and control over their LLM stack
- Projects needing a lightweight, dependency-free framework
