OpenFace is a free and open-source Python and Torch library for real-time face recognition using deep neural networks.

OpenFace is an open-source project providing a Python and Torch implementation of face recognition based on deep neural networks. It is built upon the FaceNet paper from CVPR 2015 and allows for execution on both CPU and CUDA-enabled GPUs. The library focuses on detecting faces, transforming them for neural network processing, and then representing them as 128-dimensional embeddings on a unit hypersphere. This embedding property simplifies clustering, similarity detection, and classification tasks. The project emphasizes responsible use, stating it does not support applications violating privacy and security, and highlights its use in assisting cognitively impaired users. It integrates with dlib and OpenCV for face detection and alignment. OpenFace provides examples for classification and similarity detection, including an online web demo, and offers API documentation and community support channels.
