Digital Curator uses AI to generate art exhibitions from a vast collection of Central European artworks based on selected iconographic motifs.

Digital Curator is an application that allows users to explore art collections from 91 museums across Austria, Bavaria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. It leverages computer vision and AI to identify and categorize iconographic motifs within 196,116 classical artworks, including medieval and modern paintings, drawings, and graphic prints. The platform enables users to select specific motifs or combinations of objects to generate custom exhibitions, revealing artworks across different centuries and collections. This tool addresses the challenge of art historical data being dispersed across numerous institutions, providing a unified way to discover connections and themes. For its core functionality, Digital Curator utilizes an AI library for machine learning, specifically TensorFlow, Google Cloud Vision, and custom-trained neural networks. These technologies are employed for the automatic detection and classification of depicted iconographic motifs within the extensive art database.
