ConvNet is a computer vision library providing an implementation of deep convolutional neural networks for image classification.
ConvNet is a component of the ccv (A Modern Computer Vision Library) project, specifically designed for deep convolutional networks. It implements a convolutional network topology inspired by biological visual cortex, tailored for computer vision tasks. The implementation is based on Alex Krizhevsky’s work from NIPS 2012, with parameters modified according to Matthew D. Zeiler’s work from Arxiv 1311.2901, and multi-GPU implementation influenced by Alex Krizhevsky's ICLR 2014 paper. It also includes a VGG-D model based on Karen Simonyan and Andrew Zisserman's ICLR 2015 work. The library leverages GPGPU programming to train deep convolutional networks with millions of parameters on large datasets like ImageNet. While not explicitly optimized for speed over correctness in its preliminary implementation, its performance is comparable to other implementations like Caffe or OverFeat. It provides tools for training custom image classifiers and includes pre-trained data models released under a commercial-friendly license.
