Bytebot is an open-source AI desktop agent that operates a virtual computer to complete complex tasks across various applications.
Bytebot is an open-source AI desktop agent designed to operate a full virtual computer environment. Unlike browser-only agents or traditional RPA tools, Bytebot comes with a complete Ubuntu Linux desktop, allowing it to use any application, manage files, log into websites and apps, and process various document types. It functions as a virtual employee that can see the screen, move the mouse, type on the keyboard, and complete multi-step workflows across different programs.
The agent provides full task autonomy, enabling it to handle complex workflows such as downloading and organizing invoices from multiple vendor portals, processing documents like PDFs and spreadsheets, and using desktop applications like text editors or IDEs. It supports natural language task descriptions, file uploads for processing, live desktop visualization, and a 'take control' mode for user intervention. Bytebot is self-hostable via Docker Compose or Railway, and enterprise deployment is available with Kubernetes and Helm. It supports multiple AI providers including Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT, and Google Gemini, and can integrate with local models via Ollama.
