Augment is an Obsidian plugin that adds AI generation and agentic terminals. It uses Anthropic's Claude models to provide three core capabilities: text generation, embedded Claude Code terminal sessions, and AI-powered templates. The tool reads the user's current note, vault links, and frontmatter to provide context-aware output directly at the cursor. The embedded Claude Code terminals allow users to run AI agents against their Obsidian vault without switching applications. A terminal manager tracks session activity. Templates, defined as Markdown files with variables, can pull in note content, frontmatter, and linked notes, and can be generated from a description. Augment operates locally and requires an Anthropic API key for usage, with billing handled directly by Anthropic.
